This 16-week level 3 plan is written for the Foys-to-Blacktail 2024 Marathon! It features six to seven runs per a week, with two double run days. Easy runs can be substituted for other types of cardio cross-training. Structured runs sync to your watch, daily Mobility, Weekly Core and Strength.

About the event

For every Foys to Blacktail Marathon plan purchased:  $20 will be donated to the Foy’s to Blacktail Trails organization for the development and maintenance of the expanding trail system.

Who is this plan for?  You should be able to cover a 10-mile distance and run or run/walk hybrid comfortably for at least 90 minutes before you begin this plan.  

Weekly Time Commitment: The first week starts at 10 hours and the max commitment is 13 - 16 hours (depending on individual paces). 

This 16-week training block developed for the Foys to Blacktail Trail Marathon and it contains a three-week step cycle, where training load is reduced for recovery in the third week.  This level 3 plan features 6-7 runs per a week, with two sessions that may be done either as easy runs or other types of cardio cross-training - Hiking with purpose on hilly trails is a highly recommended option!  All workouts are time and effort-based with the exception of the weekly long run has a set mileage.  There is a rest day every third week which occurs after each long run and you are encouraged to listen to your body and either rest or do a short active recovery day. 

Additionally, this plan includes daily mobility sessions, one 20-minute Core session and a 45-minute Strength session. 

  • The Basic plan includes a Basic Training Peaks Account that allows your scheduled runs to sync with your watch for guided training.  
  • The Premium plan includes a Premium Training Peaks Account which in addition to syncing the training plan to your watch, it will allow you to move scheduled workouts as needed.    More details can be found on our FAQ page.
